Interested in nature with a focus on birding and astronomy. Current project is a visual hunt for novae or exploding stars in the Galaxy from New York City. Got hooked on discovering things while birding and found that the hunt for novae in NYC is right up my alley.

Yes, that was a good looking night which I spent in the office too bushed to do anything but eat and sleep when I got home.
What kind of skies do you observe under? Here in N.Y.C. in Central Park mag. 4.8 stars are routinely seen and with some effort mag. 5.0+ are seen.
There are occasional reports of viewing the brightest part of the Milky Way in Cygnus when Cygnus is riding high.
